Iconastas - Established 1974The Russian Sales in London are upon us, with viewings starting throughout the week. The mood should be good with the incredibly strong sales in New York of Impressionist and Contemporary Art, but the negative feelings from Russia hit by sanctions is casting a black cloud over the event.....The Jacksons auction in Iowa was very successful with their policy of low estimates on many pieces in the Russian taste, but failed to sell many of the silver and enamel objects......Tomorrow it all starts in London with Christies first off the blocks. Last nights party at Sothebys was was a lesson in frugality...cheese straws, rolls and crisps...the "Loeb" cost-cutting is biting, sackcloths and ashes next!
